Horn Rounding

UX/UI Art - Horn Rounding by Peter Pillsbury

Horn RoundingQueen Mary's Last Voyage

For my Grandfather: James A FitzPatrick on his last trip past Cape Horn. My Grandfather was the guy that travelled the world making black and white films called Travel Talks. He was referred to as the “Voice of the Globe” and has a Hollywood star.

The thing I like most about this is the perspective. Either the original artist imagined the Queen Mary majestically sailing into history or fell off the back of the ship?
Wheres the UXUI? I’ll let you decide.

The moving process is much like the design process: From the Gantt chart to the User Journey this sums it up in a nice container.

Club CubeWhat a Designer sees

Before Covid, this is where many of us designers or programers spent hours staring at a screen. This is how it looked from my perspective.

Sailing Flow

UX UI Art - Sailing Flow

Sailing FlowA Sea Well Travelled

A sailing trip to Catalina Island interpreted as a design process. This piece has a user journey ending in a very happy state, the double diamond design process, UX Flow or decision diagram, There’s always sticky notes when doing UXUI, hero slider, iconography, dropdown, kanban todo list, style tile, wireframes & in particular I have added the FE code listing out what is needed for a good day of sailing including a @media query to raise the sails if there is wind.

UX UI Art – UXUI City

UX UI Art - UX UI City by Peter Pillsbury

UXUI CityWhere User Paths Cross

UXUI City as UX UI Art. My very first painting incorporates UX and UI like activities and components as part of my design process. This was originally painted using Acrylic on Canvas and is now Digital. Why the city? I’ve always liked 3D city scapes in general and it provided plenty of canvas space per each building. I created this 3D perspective because it was pleasing to the eyes and brain, a bit like the feeling you get from a miniature train set. Imagine going down the street and seeing all the user experience and user interface potential for what goes on within or on each building.

This original piece was just the start of my UX UI Art path. Now as a result my pieces have a much larger story to tell from the hand written code to the individual UX or UI components. Each represents a particular thought related to the building or item it is attached to.

You can find this on OpenSea if interested in NFTs or you can also follow me on Instagram to see the most recent works of art.
